official Tournament Rules
1. To participate in the 2023 Thoroughfare Fire Department Deer Tournament, hunters must register and pay their entry fees by 12:00 am on November 11th.
2. Official hunting dates and times: November 11th 2023, Weigh-ins will be held at the Thoroughfare Volunteer Fire Department 7:00AM to 7:00PM with award ceremony to start at 8:00PM.
3. Hunters may hunt anywhere in North Carolina where they have a legal right to hunt. The Thoroughfare Fire Department does not provide property in which to hunt and accepts no responsibility for providing property on which to hunt.
4. No game will be taken in an illegal manner. All wildlife laws, rules and regulations must be obeyed.
5. All legal weapons may be used including but not limited to bow & arrow, rifles of legal caliber and shotguns. Snaring and bludgeoning are not permitted.
6. Game must have been killed on November 11th 2023 and be weighed and scored on the same day.
7. No injection of any substance for the purpose of adding weight.
8. All kills must be registered in accordance with NC Wildlife rules and regulations.
9. Any unregistered deer will be disqualified.
10. Deer must be field dressed, IE gutted with reproductive organs removed and head and hooves still attached.
11. Each hunter will be required to sign a legally binding statement swearing under oath that he/she killed the deer he/she is entering. Prize winners may be subject to additional verification at the discretion of the Thoroughfare Fire Department.
12. All deer will be weighed by the Thoroughfare Fire Department Weighmaster team. Each animal will be weighed and recorded to the nearest tenth (.10) of a pound on the Thoroughfare Fire Department digital scales.
13. All hunters are responsible for disposal of the deer after weighing in.
